Hello! My name's Avala and I'm from Davenport, Iowa. I am a current sophomore majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders and I am double minoring in Linguistics and Gender, Woman's and Sexuality Studies. I intend to work as a geriatric SLP, hopefully for the U.S. Commissioned Corps. I enjoy spending my spare time with loved ones or just me and a book. 

The CLD lab struck my interest because I find linguistics to be a fascinating topic. I think the complexity of language acquisition is often overlooked. Additionally, I think understanding how language development differs across different languages and cultures will help me become a better SLP.
